Prior to undertaking training in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, Dr Harman obtained a broad exposure to General Internal Medicine and its specialties’. The Dr has a wide exposure to Acute and Clinical Medicine as well as extensive ICU experience having held numerous posts in a 10 bed Coronary Care Unit in Cornwall as well as the ICU in Birmingham during which time he was admitted.

He has continued involvement in ARV therapy in Grahamstown having been awarded a Center for AIDS Research grant in 2008 of $ 30,000.00 as a result of my interest in Ultrasound as a diagnostic modality for extrapulmonary TB and renal disease in HIV/AIDS patients. Through my activities in trying to bring antiretroviral therapy to the wider population of the Eastern Cape I am now in the privileged position of trying to establish a Partnership Framework with the South African National Department of Health at their request.
